Silence is Golden
Microfiction Horror
The constant drone of many voices assaults my ears, day in, day out.
It’s wearing me down.
I can’t stand it any longer.
It’s driving me insane.
The end comes one Friday night. I’m sitting in the ‘The Golden Lion,’ my wife’s boring voice, adding to the hellish cacophony of the Chinese restaurant.
I take my chop sticks in each hand and shove them into my ears.
The pain is excruciating but I push the chop sticks deeper, until my ear drums burst. I can feel blood gushing over my shaking hands.
The look of shock on my wife’s face is perfect.
But not as perfect as the silence.

Haha. Peace and quiet can be hard to find. I'm not sure I'd go that far, though. Great yarn, Jason.
Thanks 😊
